PCB-assembly 1/2

HALT! STOP!

Are you starting to assemble a kit bought not directly from schalltechnik_04.de? If yes, check every part again the list of parts.

Really! E.V.E.R.Y. Part!

If anything is wrong -> contact your seller!

If you’re not certain, if it is the correct part -> contact us.

It’s 10 mins invested, that will later safe you headaches.

HALT! STOP!

With that out of the way, let’s start building. 🙂 First we start with the bare pcb

Insert 1N4148 diode (1x) and solder it. Align correctly!

Sometimes the marking on the silkscreen isn’t very good to see.

4148

Luckily the land has different shapes. The Cathode (the side with marking) comes in the hole with the square land. (see picture above)

Insert 4,7R resistor (1x) and solder it.

Insert 220R resistors (2x) and solder them.

Insert 1k resistors (4x) and solder them.

Insert 3,3k resistors (3x) and solder them.

Now insert the first four 10k resistors. As you can see one place stayed unpopulated. Now you need to make a decision:

EXPLANATION:

The volume pot can be configure in two different ways. You can choose between:

  • -∞ (mute) to +16dB  -> jumper it

or

  • 0dB to +16dB -> insert the 10k resistor

Both configuration do make sense, therefore you need to make a decision that suites your needs the most.

But you need to know:

As written in the intro page – it is possible to switch the volume pot on/off via the footswitch (Port: B – “Boost-OFF”). If you choose the option with the jumper (-∞ bis +16dB) and you also choose to switch the volume pot with the footswitch, the result will be that your 1/4″-Output will be muted once you activate the footswitch. So:

  • If you want to use the footswitch as volume boost or in combination with the LPF -> insert the 10k resistor
  • If you don’t want the things above -> insert the jumper

If you’re still uncertain about it, go for the 10k resistor. It’s easy to jumper it afterwards – if needed.

In this instruction we will continue with the jumper option.

Insert 18k resistor (1x) and solder it.

Insert 68k resistor (1x) and solder it.

Insert 100k resistors (3x) and solder them.

Insert 10M resistor (1x) and solder it.
